The Brooklyn Nets aren’t far away from being title contenders
The Brooklyn Nets have the potential to be right in the finals come next season. With superstar Kevin Durant on the roster, they are automatically title contenders. Former NBA Champion Kyrie Irving is also expected to return next season. Ben Simmons is also still hidden on that roster, as he didn’t participate in a single game all season.
Brooklyn is a few pieces away
Every championship-caliber team in the NBA usually has a great big man to hold things down in the paint. The team already has a great role player outside of the three main stars. Seth Curry is a lethal shooter, and will only get better chemistry over the off-season with his new team.
The starting five is almost elite at all ends. Assuming Irving, Simmons, Seth Curry, and Durant are in the starting lineup, it’s already one of the league's best.
The center position in the starting five, along with a few bench roles are the missing pieces. The big man should be the primary focus this off-season.
There are some centers available this off-season that could help the Nets significantly. Deandre Ayton (PHO), Mitchell Robinson (NYK), and Jusuf Nurkic (POR) would all make Brooklyn’s starting five one of the best.
Outside of the center position, they could also use some good bench players. Bringing back Patty Mills would be a very wise move for Brooklyn’s front office to make. Former New York star Carmelo Anthony (LAL) would also help the bench squad and wouldn’t be too pricey.
Overall this team is already a contender in the East, because of the future Hall of Famer, Kevin Durant. With Irving and Curry likely returning to the starting lineup this team will be very good. The three-time all-star Ben Simmons joining the lineup will make the starting lineup even stronger. Finding the center, and a few bench pieces could put this team over the top quicker than people may think. And with Kevin Durant on the roster, anything is possible.
