Klay Thompson’s Bounce Back Performance

Washingtonpost.com

Last week, Klay Thompson responded to all the social media slander by dropping a season-high 41 points while shooting 14-for-23 from the field and 10-for-13 from three. The Klay slander has been at an all-time high, with him underperforming for the past two seasons. Thompson himself even addressed all the doubters by saying this:

“I feel like I deserve more credit for battling through all that injury s***” Thompson told B/R. “I helped a team win a championship last year and people still want to discredit what you do.”

Ever since Thompson missed back-to-back seasons due to injuries, he hasn’t quite looked like himself.

His points per game are down, and his shooting percentage from the field and three are at a career low. NBA fans even suggested that Jordan Poole take Thompson’s starting position on the Warriors.

Clearly, Thompson has heard all the noise and feels he hasn’t been given credit for returning from his injuries. After the big performance against the Houston Rockets, Klay spoke to the media and had this to say:

"Not gonna lie guys that felt amazing. I don't care if it's a mid-November game, that felt great."

Thompson has been a big part of the Warriors’ success in winning four championships in the past seven years. So even though he has not fully returned to his pre-injury self, it’s important to give him time to get back into his shooting rhythm.

Thompson is one of the greatest shooters of all time, and NBA fans know what he can do once he catches fire. Even though Thompson’s big shooting night was against one of the worst teams in the NBA, it’s still vital for Thompson and the Warriors to see him have a big night.

For shooters, sometimes all it takes is to see one shot go through the bucket. It’ll be interesting to see if Thompson can keep this rhythm going into the future and help the Warriors get back on that championship path.
