Takeaways From Each Knicks Player As Season ends

It’s over… This disaster of a season is finally over. After initial hopes of 45+ wins, I am happy that this is done so that I can look forward to the offseason and future of these young guys. With that said, here is some quick analysis of the whole roster.

Kemba Walker: I was never too excited about Kemba Walker but was more excited about not having Elfrid Payton run the point guard position anymore. Needless to say, his defense was awful and he was initially used as a scapegoat for early troubles. Overall, did not hate him, just cannot play defense and the shot was too inconsistent. Still fun though.

Miles McBride: I wish I had more to say about McBride but he never got the real opportunity to get into the real rotation. Whenever he played, I loved watching his perimeter defense and his willingness to make plays.

Derrick Rose: If Derrick Rose does not get injured in December this season could be a whole different story. He was instant offensive impact as he was someone who could create for everybody, not just himself. I always say the Knicks would’ve only won 5 games up to mid-December if not for Derrick Rose. Hope he can come back healthy next season because he gives the team a much better chance at winning each and every game.

Immanuel Quickley: Immanuel Quickley was on/off the struggle bus for the first 50 or so games of the season before really turning things around in February. His leash was too long, too short, and then still a little too short as the season winded down. When in the point guard role, he was doing a great job, and showed how he can be a point guard moving forward.

Quentin Grimes: Awesome perimeter defender. Awesome shooter. Needs more minutes.

RJ Barrett: GIVE HIM THE KEYS! After being a horrible offensive player for the first 2 months of the season and getting COVID, things completely turned around for him. Post New Year, he was averaging about 25 points and was looking like a superstar. If he can get his defense back up, he will be an All-Star selection next year.

Alec Burks: I don’t wanna talk about it. Move him.

Evan Fournier: Again, not talking about it. Move him.

Julius Randle: After picking up where he left off on opening night with a monster game against the Celtics, things went downhill real quick. His shot stopped falling, his decision making was awful, his defensive effort lacked, and his attitude completely fell apart. Sadly, move him.

Cam Reddish: Inconsistent player that was receiving inconsistent minutes. When given the chance to integrate himself into the offense, he did a great job. After a great game against the Clippers, he got hurt and we didn’t get to see anymore of him. I hope the team keeps him.

Taj Gibson: Fun presence. Team likes him. However, his skill level has taken a decline. Either keep him or move, I won’t mind either.

Jericho Sims: Play him more please.

Obi Toppin: If he could be an average ball handler, this league is toast. Play him more.

Nerlens Noel: Sadly, move him.

Mitchell Robinson: He always makes an impact while he is on the floor. His defensive capabilities are awesome and he is a great lob catcher. Needs new people in his circle though as he does not work on the right things.
