Spurs rebounding from past losses?

As we enter the second week of the NBA season, one team, in my opinion, draws the attention of the world and that would be the Antonio Spurs. Some fans may see the team’s 1-2 record and start to think about how can they bring a comeback? The Antonio Spurs have the opportunity to bring a new era and chapter that the world of the NBA will be witnesses to.

This week, the Spurs look to get back on track with their record and grab some wins after losing two straight to the Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks. It was encouraging to see the Spurs keep up the pace with both teams, it showed a lot of grit on both sides—something we all love to see in basketball. It also brought a defensive tenacity and most importantly continue to fight even if the scoreboard wasn’t playing in their favor. This season right here may be a long one, but for one thing, it’s going to be a great opportunity for the players to grow together and breakout on each end they have.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS VS LOS ANGELES LAKERS

The Los Angeles Lakers visit the Spurs tonight and come into the game with losses from the Warriors and the Suns and had a matchup with the Grizzlies last night on the 25th. Come tonight, the Lakers squad will be sitting at 0-3 or 1-2 and nonetheless will be looking for a spark to get back on track, as many consider them title contenders. Last year the season series between the Spurs and the Lakers favored Los Angeles (2-1) and this will be the first of four matchups the two teams will have this season.

A game versus any LeBron-led team is tough enough for any team to defend, so it will interesting to see how the Spurs keep up with the Lakers and how they handle tonight with the Lakers James and their other stars Davis and Westbrook. Through the first three games, the Spurs have made life a little difficult for teams on the defensive end and forced an average of 19.3 turnovers while giving up 106.6 PPG. However, they still post a 1-2 record, they were a couple of possessions away from starting off 3-0 and you could tally a lot of victories from the losses.

The prediction for this game: The Spurs get back on track and get blessed with a high-scoring game that will end up coming down to the wire.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS VS DALLAS MAVERICKS

The beloved rivalry with the Mavericks kicks off Thursday night and first-year Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd is no stranger to something like this—this isn’t his first rodeo. The Spurs visit Dallas who will be coming off a Tuesday game with their rival, the Houston Rockets, and will come in either 2-1 or 1-2. Either way, this game will be a toss-up to predict.

The Spurs will be coming off a matchup against the Lakers. The matchup to look forward to will be their game plan to guard Luka Doncic, who has become a generational start and is dangerous on the court. Last year, he averaged a 29-8-10 stat line versus the Spurs, so limiting his game will be harder than expected.

The prediction for this game: The Spurs have a great game and gain confidence into their next matchup versus the Bucks.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS VS THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS

The Spurs finally get a rematch with their defending champs after dropping last week’s game. The scoreboard doesn’t do justice as the team kept up with the champs for most of the game and life was difficult for them by forcing them to 20 turnovers. That’s something you don’t forget about, so this game might be a fiery one. Doug McDermott lit up the court with seven threes and finished the game with the team’s leading scorer was 25.

The squad will get the Bucks coming off a Wednesday matchup against the Timberwolves, so if you think about it, they have an extra day off of rest to get back into it. However, if the Spurs win against the Mavs, then the Spurs will be ready for this game. Although McDermott went 7-11 from three, combined the team shot 25.6% and coughed up the ball 13 times that ending up resulting in 18 points for the Bucks.

Prediction for this game: The Spurs will progress during the game and come out with a win, but it won’t be easy as they might hope.
