REVIEWING THE ATLANTA HAWKS NBA DRAFT PICKS

During the NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks had two draft picks which were the 15th pick and the 46th pick. With the 15th pick, the Hawks selected Kobe Bufkin, a point guard from the University of Michigan. Bufkin is 6’4” and 195 pounds and helps to provide the exact needs the Hawks were missing, which is a backup Point Guard for Trae Young with size and defensive ability. Bufkin also uses his length and quickness to pick-pocket defenders and finish well at the rim through contact. Bufkin averaged 1.3 steals and 0.7 blocks per game last season. He is also an underrated passer and will provide decent shooting efficiency for a Hawks team loaded with perimeter scorers. With the 46th pick, the Atlanta Hawks selected Seth Lundy, a shooting guard from Penn State. Lundy is listed at 6’6” and 220 pounds and is best known as a skilled three-point shooter with the composure to score under duress. Lundy also provides value to the Hawks as an athletic scorer, quickly cutting to the rim and throwing down ferocious dunks. Lundy will provide extra depth as a Shooting Guard, but his size may allow him to receive extra minutes as a Small Forward. Lundy averaged 40% from behind the arc as a shooter last season. Overall, the Hawks conducted a strong draft where they were able to add extra size to the backcourt and add utility players that cover the needs that the Hawks have at both guard positions, both defensively and offensively and this will provide more assurance to the Hawks that they finally have a backup point guard who can take some of the load off Trae Young.
