Certain basketball players receive a lot of buzz and attention in the professional game, but upon closer inspection, it's possible that their contributions don't always meet those expectations. In 2023, a number of NBA players are deemed overrated for a variety of reasons. Let's look at ten of the league's top overrated players of the current season.

10. Draymond Green

Draymond Green is well known for his communication and defensive prowess, but some people feel that he is overrated due to worries about his offensive limitations. Even though he was a crucial part of the Golden State Warriors' success, some people don't think his influence was as significant as his fame would have you believe.

9. DeAndre Jordan

Jordan was once a powerful force in the paint, but lately his impact has diminished. Some skeptics feel that his defensive presence is no longer as strong as it once was despite his reputation as a shot-blocking and rebounding expert.

8. John Wall

Injuries have plagued John Wall throughout his career, which has reduced his playing time. Formerly thought to be one of the league's top point guards, but his recent performances have raised concerns about his overall worth and contribution to a team.

7. Rudy Gobert

Despite being an exceptional defender and a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert has come under fire for his offensive limitations and inability to compete with the best centers. Some contend that his influence has not been as big as his reputation would indicate.

6. Kyle Kuzma

Due to his affiliation with the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James, Kyle Kuzma's reputation has been somewhat exaggerated. However, he has had trouble regularly providing the kind of contributions anticipated of a top player, leading to overly high statements about him.

5. Russel Westbrook

Westbrook, renowned for his triple-double accomplishments, has drawn flak for his postseason failures and pressure-filled decision-making. Despite his undeniable brilliance, some people feel that his playing style is not necessarily conducive to success in the postseason.

4. Kristaps Porzingis

The trajectory of Kristaps Porzingis' career has been considerably affected by injuries. His numerous injuries have hindered him from living up to the high expectations put on him when he was once hailed as a unicorn with enormous potential.

3. Ben Simmons

Despite being a highly skilled player with excellent defensive abilities, Ben Simmons' scoring issues have led to some critics overrating him. His meager offensive output due to his unreliable jump shot has received criticism from both fans and pundits.

2. DeMar DeRozan

Though DeMar DeRozan has a remarkable scoring ability, his inability to help his team win has cast doubt on his contribution to victory. Though he can score a lot of points, his failure to lead a team all the way to the playoffs has raised concerns about his value as a player.

1. Trae Young

Making it to number one is Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks. There is no denying Trae Young's exceptional talent as a high-scoring point guard. Despite his impressive achievements, Young has faced criticism for failing to guide the Hawks to success. His preference for shooting challenging shots and occasional defensive lapses, according to critics, might prevent his team from consistently winning.
