President Joe Biden, the Warriors, and the White House
On Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors celebrated their NBA championship in the White House. President Biden stated, “The Golden State Warriors are always welcome in this White House,” referencing the Warriors being publicly disinvited to the White House while Donald Trump was in office because Stephen Curry said he was not interested in going.
However, this time President Biden and Curry made a grand entrance, and Biden complimented Curry, stating he is “one of the great sportsmen of our time.”
Vice President Kamala Harris also proudly stated, “As a very proud daughter of Oakland, California, it gives me immense personal pride as the vice president of the United States to say, Dub Nation is in the house.” Then after Curry thanked them for allowing them to celebrate at the White House, he handed Harris a No. 1 jersey as the number one fan and gave Biden a jersey with the number 46 since he is the 46th president.
Curry also mentioned Brittney Griner and thanked the administration for bringing her home to her family. She is a women’s basketball star who was in jail in Russia for drug charges. Curry stated, “it means a lot to know she’s here and home safe with her family.”
