Predicting The All-NBA Second Team

Guard: Steph Curry

Steph Curry is going into his 14th NBA season and has shown no sign of regression. The past two seasons for Curry have been healthy seasons where he continues to dominate. Last season Curry averaged 25.5 points and 6.3 assists per game on 43/38/92 shooting splits. He's coming off his fourth NBA championship and first Finals MVP award. I expect Curry to lead the Warriors to a high seed in the West while averaging superstar numbers to land him a spot on the All-NBA Second Team.

Guard: James Harden

James Harden has come into training camp looking dedicated to making a deep run with the Sixers this upcoming season. He claims that he lost 100 pounds in the off-season and took a $14 million pay cut so that the team could sign more players. Last year, many people considered Harden to be washed, even though he averaged an impressive 22 points and 10.3 assists, and 7.7 rebounds per game. With Harden running the offense in Philly and Joel Embiid by his side, I think the Sixers will be a top seed in the Eastern Conference. Harden will remind the world why he's one of the most feared players in the NBA.

Forward: Kevin Durant

With all the drama surrounding the Brooklyn Nets, I still think Kevin Durant is that guy. A healthy Durant is still a top-five player in the NBA. He is one of the greatest scorers the game has ever seen, and even at age 33 last season, he averaged 30 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists a game while having shooting splits of 52/38/91. Durant is still an MVP-caliber player and has proved that in every healthy season. Even with all the drama that occurred during the off-season, I still believe Durant will lead his team to a top-five seed in the east while putting up efficient numbers.

Forward: Jayson Tatum

Last year Jayson Tatum made All-NBA First Team at just 23 years old. So you might wonder why a young player like Tatum would not make it for a second year after continuing to improve. The main reason why I don't think he'll make the first team is that Boston won't be as high of a seed compared to last season. With the loss of Ime Udoka, I don't think the Boston Celtics will be a top-three seed like last season. However, I still think Tatum will have a great season, lead the Boston Celtics to a good record, and be deserving of a spot on the All-NBA Second Team.

Center: Joel Embiid

After last year's season, Joel Embiid feels as though he was robbed of the MVP award. He will come back hungrier to prove why he is the MVP of the league. I only put him on the second team out of respect for the back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic. But in reality, I could see Embiid and Jokic flipping spots on this year's All-NBA teams. It'll be an exciting season for Embiid and Sixers fans, and I expect big things from him come playoff time. He hasn't delivered in past seasons, but I feel that this season could be his to take over.
