LeBron James moves into the sixth spot on NBA’s all-time assists list

On December 2, the Los Angeles Lakers went into Milwaukee to take on the Bucks and came away with a very impressive win. Additionally, LeBron James made history and moved past Lakers legend Magic Johnson on the all-time assist leaderboard. James now stands at the sixth spot with 10,144 assists.
Magic didn’t acknowledge that James had passed him. However, he did have this to say about his performance against the Bucks:
Johnson was the one to recruit James to the Lakers and has been supportive every step of the way. So it seemed only right for James to pass the great Magic Johnson on the all-time assists list while repping the purple and gold jersey.
James is one of the most skilled passers this generation has seen. Considering he’s 6-9 and came into the league as a small forward, at times, he looks like a modern-day Magic when running that fastbreak and making unbelievable passes in the half-court set.
How much further can James move up the all-time assist? As I said, James is standing at 10,144 at the sixth spot. Mark Jackson takes up the fifth spot with 10,334 assists, Steve Nash is at number four with 10,335 assists, and the third spot is Chris Paul with 11,071, who will continue to bring those assist numbers up.
It’s safe to say James will not get that third spot this season. However, he likely moves into that fourth spot, as he is only 221 assists away from the number four spot.
James has played 15 out of 21 games this season, and within those games, he is averaging 6.6 assists per game. If he continues to average 6.6 assists per game, he will pass Steve Nash for the number three spot in the next 30 games.
James has the chance to finish his career being the top scorer in the history of the NBA and being a top three assist leader. It’s truly amazing what James has accomplished and that he is still going strong during his 20th season.
