Nets vs Sixers: Game One

Brooklyn, NY (PSF) - Despite being considered the underdogs, the Brooklyn Nets made a strong showing in game one against the Philadelphia 76ers, though it was not enough to secure a win. Even if Brooklyn’s head coach refuses to call them underdogs, their determination was evident in the first half of the game, particularly due to the outstanding performance of Mikal Bridges.

Despite the Brooklyn Nets' impressive shooting performance, their lack of depth on the roster became apparent, particularly in the second half of the game. This was highlighted by the fact that their top scorer, Mikal Bridges, attempted only two shots during the latter half of the game. 

The Net’s were able to slow down Joel Embiid by double teaming him, but this led to open shots for the others. James Harden was able to capitalize on this shooting 7-13 from three. 

With only a nine point deficit at the half, it grew to 20 points at the opening of the fourth quarter where the 76ers pulled away. 

Although the Nets managed to hit three consecutive 3-pointers to reduce the deficit to 11 points with 6:50 remaining in the game, they were unable to get any closer than that before the final buzzer sounded. 

The Net’s biggest problem was rebounding as it has been evident all season. The Nets continued to give Philadelphia second chances, as the Sixers finished with 14 offensive rebounds. 

Vaughn said before the game. “So our ability to stay poised for the entire game [is important]. We need to show some poise, as a group, on the road.” The Nets were able to stay as poised as they could in the Wells Fargo Center but they couldn’t get a win.
