Nets adding to the playoff roster

The Brooklyn Nets officially sign Kessler Edwards to an NBA standard contract, securing a spot on the playoff roster.

The Nets have exercised the Standard NBA Contract Conversion Option on two-way forward @KesslerEdwards' contract.

The 21-year-old forward was previously on a two-way contract, making him ineligible to play in the postseason. The Nets waived veteran forward James Johnson on Thursday, to make room for Edwards.​

In a pregame presser, the rookie from Pepperdine said he wasn’t expecting to get his contract converted until the past few days.

With the Play-in Tournament on Tuesday, adding Edwards to the playoff roster is huge for the Nets, as he has been a key role player.

In the past five games, Edwards averaged 18.2 minutes, 6.8 points, 43.64% from the field, 3.6 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks. He’s played a total of 47 games, starting 22, for Brooklyn this season.

Based on the standings, the Nets have sole possession of the 7 seed in the East, but are not out of the woods. Brooklyn can finish 7, 8, or 9, depending on the results of Sunday’s games.

The Nets face the Indiana Pacers in the last game of the regular season. With a win, Brooklyn clinches No. 7 seed for the Play-in Tournament, having homecourt advantage.
