NBA is supposedly giving out warning cards to fans
In soccer, a referee can give players a yellow card to indicate a warning for their play. Well, apparently, fans can get a warning card during an NBA game.
DJ SCHEME recently tweeted a picture of him holding an NBA warning card which he said he was at fault for saying the f-word.
The warning card reads as follows:
You are being issued a warning that the comments, gestures, and/or behaviors that you have directed at the players, coaches, game officials, or other spectators constitute excessive verbal abuse or behavior that is disruptive or interferes with a game participant or another spectator and are in violation of the NBA Fan Code of Conduct. This is the first and only warning that you will receive. If, after receiving this warning, you verbally abuse any player, coach, game official, or spectator, or engage in behavior that is disruptive or interferes with a game participant or another spectator, you will be immediately ejected from the arena without a refund.
What is most interesting about this warning card is that it has been around for a while. The last time we saw about this came back in 2013 when the then red-colored warning card was issued to a fan. However, according to an NBA tweet dating back to 2013, the warning cards have been in place in arenas since 2005.
There are countless instances where fans interfered during the game, whether it was LeBron James pointing out two fans to be ejected or the time when a fan flipped off Russell Westbrook right in front of him. Not to mention those fans who occasionally run onto the court. Plus, we even got protesters gluing their hands to the floor court or chaining themself to a basket stanchion during last yearβs playoffs.
The truth is fans are there to watch and enjoy the game, and if they canβt behave themselves, then maybe the NBA has a point in giving out these cards.
