Montrezl Harrell is Coming Back to the Philadelphia 76ers

Montrezl Harrell - The Canadian Press

Just a day after signing center Mo Bamba, the Philadelphia 76ers are bringing back Montrezl Harrell on a one-year $2 million deal. Harrell, the former sixth man of the year back in the covid shortened 2020 season, struggled last year with the 76ers. Last season was the first time Harrell didn’t average double digits in scoring since the 2016-17 season with 9.1 points per game (PPG), but last year, he only amassed 5.6 PPG in only 57 games. The 57 games that Harrell played in were his lowest since his rookie season in 2015-16 when he began his career with the Houston Rockets. The reason for the little use of Harrell had to do with the play of Paul Reed, who took over the backup center position for the 76ers.

Now with the acquisition of Mo Bamba, the question on everyone’s mind has to be what will Harrell’s position with the team be now? It most likely will be the third center position on the team behind Bamba. Once the playoffs rolled around, Harrell pretty much already started his role for this upcoming season, which is that third center.
