Mike Conley The Missing Puzzle Piece in The Western Division

Mike Conley, a Point Guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves first made his NBA debut in 2007. Where he would be a Point Guard for the Memphis Grizzlies for 12 years establishing his name in the league. Throughout his time with the Grizzlies he gained many accolades one of his biggest, was being named the most points scored for the Memphis Grizzlies. Surpassing former title holder Pau Gasol, also reaching milestones like hitting his 845th three point shot, collecting the title of the most threes made for the Grizzlies. Conley would then later be traded in 2019 to the Utah Jazz where he spent four seasons and then landed himself with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2023 trade.

Conley getting traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves was a smart investment for the Wolves. By gaining Conley the Wolves have established a well balanced defense and offense. Conley ties together the Timberwolves three power players Karl Anthony Towns (KAT) a center, Rudy Gobert also a center, and Anthony Edwards a shooting guard. With having such powerful players on the same team it can be a struggle to find a balance between them all, Conley’s veteran abilities has taken the Wolves to that next level. Now able to use each of these players strategically, Conley gets each one of them going and has led the Wolves to some great successes this season.

So far with Conley’s time with the Timberwolves he has not only brought a huge team mentality to the team, he has also been able to be an asset himself. Averaging about 14 points, three rebounds, and six assists per game. With having such a versatile veteran on the team, he slows the game down for the Wolves and his ability to read the court and include his teammates will lead the Timberwolves to much more success this year.
