LeBron James is closing in on all-time scoring title

LeBron James is closing in on the all-time NBA scoring record and sees himself 398 points away from breaking the all-time mark held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. James has been on a tear recently and is averaging 29 points per game on the season to this point.

If James keeps this scoring pace, he will have a chance to break the record in the next 14-16 games of the regular season. It is possible that James will break the record against the Pelicans, Thunder, or Bucks if he plays in every game scheduled from here to February 9.

When James achieves this feat, he will have done so in about 200 fewer games played than the current scoring leader, Abdul-Jabbar.

Despite a recent five-game win streak and the play of James, the Lakers still see themselves without a playoff spot sitting at 19-23 and 13th in the Western Conference. With the trade deadline looming and the eventual return of Anthony Davis, the Lakers hope they will be able to make a late-season push for a playoff spot.
