Lakers Take Game One and Fall Short Game Two

The Los Angeles Lakers were able to steal the first game at home from Golden State, thanks to a stellar performance from Anthony Davis and Lebron. AD dropped 30 points and picked up 23 rebounds and Lebron scored 22 points and grabbed 11 boards. Additionally, D'Angelo Russell and Dennis Schroeder would put up 19 points each to help lighten the load off two stars of the team. All in all, this would be just a little too much for the Warriors to handle in game one, so they’d go on to lose by five.

In the second game, the Lakers ended up getting blown out by the Warriors. The question to be asked is what went wrong. In the first game, Anthony Davis was a beast in the paint despite the Warriors’ best efforts in game one where they couldn’t stop him from scoring at will. In that first game, Kevon Looney played a large amount and was matched with AD but in game two the Warriors would go with more of a small ball lineup and have Draymond step up on AD. AD would score a mediocre 11 pts in this game. If the Lakers want any chance of winning in playoffs this can’t happen, AD cannot be allowing a smaller defender like Draymond to shut him down on offense. His ability to score is crucial to the teams’ success and he needs to be dominant night in and night out. Maybe going back to LA for game three will wake him up if not the playoff hopes aren’t looking too great.
