Lakers snap the Grizzlies’ win streak

ESPN

The Memphis Grizzlies came into Los Angeles hoping to push for a franchise-high 12 consecutive wins, but the Lakers had other plans. The Grizzlies had been playing exceptional basketball and had not lost a game since December 25.

While the Lakers haven't had a good season and currently stand in as the 12th seed in the West, they've been competing every night against top playoff teams in the league. LeBron James and Russell Westbrook have stepped up their game since Anthony Davis went down with his foot injury. However, James didn't play up to his standard in the win. Instead, Westbrook's amazing play off the bench led the Lakers to a victory. Westbrook continues to thrive off the bench and is proving that he is a valuable player on this Lakers team.

The Lakers also had help from their starting point guard Dennis Schröder, who nearly finished with a triple-double and collected the game-winning steal that led to a three-point play to put the Lakers up two with 7.1 seconds left.

This win was very impressive for the Lakers, considering James had a bad shooting night, and the Grizzlies were the hottest team in the league. To add to it, the Grizzlies also had 39 second-chance points, which is the most by a team in the last 25 years.

It'll be interesting to see if the Lakers can ride this momentum and continue to play competitive basketball. It's reported that Davis will return to play shortly to make a push for a playoff spot. This team has looked dangerous at times, and I don't think any of the top teams in the West want to see a healthy Lakers squad in the first round.
