Knicks Embarrass Me In Front of My Friends

The New York Knicks are currently on a 3 game losing streak, sitting at 2 games below .500, which is exactly where they were before the 3 game winning streak they went on that ended against Charlotte. Since that Charlotte game, the effort the Knicks have brought forth in the last 2 games has been flat out embarrassing, with me almost turning the TV off with how disgusted I was.

In the first half against Minnesota, the Knicks did not run any real plays on offense. A lot of what they did was simply pass the ball 30 feet away from the basket to each other over and over, then when driving to the basket, keeping their head down to either force a bad shot or turn the ball over. The entire first half, I never thought the Knicks had a real chance to win.

And then the 3rd quarter happened.

The defensive intensity of the Knicks greatly picked up, led by Evan Fournier’s hot shooting that helped the Knicks come back from double digits to take the lead late in the 3rd. In the late 3rd and early 4th, Julius Randle picked up his pants, and got to work. He was fighting down low for extra chances, not letting anyone get in his way of the basket. Once he wasn’t getting any calls, he went to the jumper, and it started falling. Late in the 4th quarter, Kemba Walker hit 3 straight 3’s to put the Knicks up 5, and then everything fell apart right then and there.

The Knicks stopped playing defense with their feet and Taj Gibson fouled out. For some reason, when the Knicks needed someone that could catch the ball in the paint and/or around the basket, they did not sub in Obi Toppin, and instead opted for Alec Burks, who is a fine player, but likes to stay along the perimeter.

With less than a minute left, KAT drove on Randle, getting an and one to put them up 2. Randle then got fouled on the other end and missed the first free throw. The Knicks ended up getting a 2nd chance at the buzzer, and Burks missed the 3 at the end.

Against the Pelicans on Thursday night, the Knicks played like they didn’t just get bullied the last 2 games, and allowed themselves to get bullied by the Pelicans with ease, not getting any movement within the paint. And oh boy, they shot some airballs that Mitchell Robinson picked up. Overall, just a game I wish I never watched. Imagine what has been going on with the Knicks this season that has led to losses, and that’s exactly how the Knicks lost.

I am not exactly sure about what to do with this team going forward. I think some moves need to be made, but I am not sure who need to go and who needs to stay.

The Knicks play Sunday against the Clippers.
