Kevin Durant Injury Update: Nets Won 2 straight
Iowa City, IA (PSF)- After a full two weeks without playing ball, Kevin Durant had a medical checkup with his doctors on his right MCL sprain. He has now officially been cleared for on-court basketball activities.
According to the Brooklyn Nets’ Twitter page, Durant will be reevaluated in two weeks.
Kevin Durant wants to play in the All-Star game (ASG) this season in Salt Lake City as Durant hasn’t participated in the ASG since he played in Golden State.
“I want to play tomorrow if I can,” Durant said. “So, that’s what my sense of urgency is. Obviously, I don’t want to rush anything. I want to make sure I’m 100 percent. But yeah, I want to play,” according to Alex Schiffer of the Athletic.
Durant also talked about how he knew what happened when the injury occurred and instantly thought about the recovery process.
The last time Durant was hurt, the Nets went on a 13-game losing streak that dropped them from the top seed in the East to the play-in tournament. The Nets didn’t start off strong in Durant’s absence, going on a four-game losing streak when Durant got hurt. They have now won two straight, though, beating the Jazz and Warriors in those two games.
With the ASG being on February 19th, Durant should be optimistic about his chances of participating with fellow teammates Kyrie Irving and potentially Nic Claxton.
Durant won’t be traveling with the team when they take on the Philadelphia 76ers as he doesn’t want to mess up his recovery routine.
Brooklyn currently sits at a 29-17 record, which is 4th place and just a game back from the Milwaukee Bucks and the 76ers. If Brooklyn can hold out on the remaining stretch of games without Kevin Durant, the Nets should be sitting in a pretty good spot come playoff time.
