Karl-Anthony Towns Ties For Third Most Points Scored In The NBA All-Star Game
Karl-Anthony Towns, a center for the Minnesota Timberwolves becomes one of the four players in NBA league history to reach 50 points in the NBA All-Star game. Towns has shown significant growth throughout this season improving his stats in every category, and surpassing his own records this season as well. With such great success during the season Towns earned himself along with fellow teammate Anthony Edwards, a shooting guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves a spot on the NBA All-Star team.
Towns reached 50 points on 23/35 attempts tying with third placeholder of 50 points in 2020 Stephen Curry, a point guard for the Golden State Warriors. Trailing two points behind second placeholder of 2017 Anthony Davis, a power forward for the Los Angeles Lakers. Holding the record high Jayson Tatum in 2023 scoring 55 points during the NBA All-Star game.
Not only did Towns hit a new league record, he also made history to become the highest scorer for the Minnesota Timberwolves during the All-Star game. He was also the highest scorer for both the Eastern and Western teams. Though he had such an impressive game the Western team was defeated by the Eastern team 186-211. Many records were broken throughout this game including a combined score high of 397 points for the All-Star game, and the Eastern team setting the new record for most points scored standing at 211 points.
