Joel Embiid Breaks 76ers Franchise Record in Win Over Spurs
There have only ever been eight players in NBA league history to score 70+ points during a game. And on Monday night against the San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76er’s Joel Embiid became the ninth.
Not only does this display highlight the sheer skill level that Embiid plays at and breaks his own career high, but this performance also breaks a 76er’s franchise record, with most points scored in a single game. A record previously held by Wilt Chamberlain with 68 points.
When the 48 minutes of game play came to an end, Embiid posted an impressive stat line, going 24-41 from the field, 21-23 from the free throw line, while also having 18 rebounds, five assists, and only one turnover.
After hitting that last basket, pushing him to 70, the Wells Fargo Arena erupted knowing history was just made:

Embiid’s teammates Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris chipped in with 18 and 14 points respectively, however following the game, Embiid explained that he had to give much of the credit to his teammates, who deferred to him with the ball when they knew he was hot.
The 76ers currently owe much of their success and 29-14 record to their center, who has scored at least 30 points in the last 22 games played.
Embiid’s standout performances are nothing shy of greatness, and his stats back that up:
