“James, I Love You, Bro. Stay!”

On Monday, Patrick Beverley had a few words to say when asked about what Beverley would say to James Harden to convince him to stay with the Philadelphia 76ers. “James, I love you, bro. Stay!” said Beverley seemed to be trying to sell the point a little bit that he wants Harden to stay in Philadelphia. “He knows I’m here so we’ll see.”

Patrick Beverley and James Harden played together with the Houston Rockets. From 2013 to 2017 the two paired up with Harden at the shooting guard position and Patrick Beverley running the point. Beverley had some of his best seasons at Houston and learned to become a pro there. Beverley also won the NBA Hustle Award in his final year in Houston during the 2016-17 season. That season he was also named to the NBA First Team All-Defense. Beverley was named to the NBA Second Team All-Defense in 2014.

Unfortunately, Patrick Beverley’s numbers have not been the same since he left Houston in 2017. In Houston, Beverley averaged almost double digits in scoring when he was either starting in almost every single game then his numbers dipped to 6.2 points per game once he left Houston. Perhaps, Daryl Morey might be hoping that pairing up Patrick Beverley and James Harden together might improve those offensive numbers.

Coincidentally, Morey may be hoping that with Patrick Beverley and James Harden paired up perhaps that can light a spark back into James Harden to be that type of player that he was during his glory days with the Houston Rockets when the two were paired back up. That same spark that Daryl Morey might be hoping gets light back into James Harden is the same spark that Morey might be trying to light back into Joel Embiid with the Mo Bamba signing.
