HOLIDAY SEASON: WHY JRUE SHOULD BE AN NBA ALL-STAR

Jrue Holiday is your favorite player’s favorite player. He has long been admired by his peers for his lock down defense and high basketball IQ while flying under the radar to much of the media and casual fans. However, after helping the Bucks win a championship in his first season in Milwaukee, he is starting to be recognized as one of the premier guards in the NBA. It is time he is elected to his 2nd All-Star game. At age 31, he is putting together one of the best campaigns of his career. Holiday is averaging 18.5 ppg, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists as the 3rd scoring option on the team. On top of that, he remains one of the best, if not the best on-ball defender in basketball. Jrue also put up a career high 40 points against his former team, the New Orleans Pelicans. While everyone is talking about the Lakers, Bulls, Nets, and Warriors, the Bucks currently sit at 3rd place in the East. They are only two games behind the first place Bulls despite not having Giannis and Khris Middleton for numerous games this season. Many top heavy teams would have suffered greatly with their top two scoring options out for weeks. Milwaukee has stayed afloat largely because of Jrue picking up the slack. In addition, considering that Giannis is a top MVP candidate once again this year, it is easy to overlook Holiday for an All-Star spot. But Holiday is very deserving of the nod. Fans tend to fall in love with high scoring players and 3pt shooting, but they shouldn’t forget that defense is one of the most important aspects of the game, and Jrue is possibly the best two-way point guard in the East. The time is now to reward him for his elite play. Vote Jrue for All-Star 2022.
