Heat get much-needed win in rematch vs. Washington (11/23)
The Heat were due for a rematch with the Washington Wizards after previously losing their overtime matchup. However, this time, Kyle Lowry led the team to a much-needed 113-105 win.
In yet another outing of extended minutes, In 35 minutes, Lowry’s 28 points were the boost Miami needed after a three-game skid on the road. He did damage from all over the floor, with five of his seven makes being threes and nine points added from the line. Caleb Martin supported the team with a healthy 24 points, and Tyler Herro returned with 17 of his own.
Despite injuries riddling the team, with 10 active players on the injuries, the Heat snapped their losing streak. After losses to the Cavaliers, Timberwolves, and Wizards in a similar fashion, Miami refused to repeat its actions.
The Heat led by as much as 21 at the end of the half, and despite squandering their early lead, they managed to keep the Wizards at bay. Miami was held to 53 points in the second half, but that was enough to get the job done.
Kyle Kuzma led the Wizards with his 33 points, continuing a trend of big wings damaging the Heat’s defense all season. Fortunately, the Wizards only had Kuzma to look to in the contest, with Porzingis finishing with 21 points on a less-than-ideal 8-for-19 from the field. Will Barton and Deni Avdija put up 13 and 12 points, respectively.
