In his first full offseason as the general manager for the Utah Jazz, Danny Ainge elected to trade Rudy Gobert last week to the Minnesota Timberwolves for five first-round draft picks, Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverly, and Jared Vanderbilt. Many fans and people across the league were blown away by the return Ainge was able to get for the All-Star center. Still, more are sitting back and wondering what this could mean for Donovan Mitchell’s future with the Utah Jazz organization.

If Mitchell is indeed available, the New York Knicks should be picking up every potential phone within reach to make a deal happen. Not only will Mitchell immediately make the Knicks a better team on and off the court, but he will also be the long-awaited superstar the Knicks have been itching for since Carmelo Anthony arrived over 10 years ago. Mitchell will arguably be the third-best player the Knicks have had since 1990 without playing a game behind Patrick Ewing and Anthony.
