Why Brooklyn absolutely can’t trade Kyrie Irving for Russell Westbrook unless they’re granted massive compensation in return

On June 30 the Brooklyn Nets were hit with the worst news of the off-season thus far as star player Kevin Durant requested a trade out of Brooklyn. With the nets fielding offers by the day from almost every team in the NBA the return will certainly be there in the end. With Kevin Durant’s teammate Kyrie Irving the significant interest may not be the case. Kyrie Irving’s decision to not get vaccinated last season showed everyone around the league Kyrie is going to do things at his own pace. With the lakers as the only real suitor for Kyrie at the moment Brooklyn must do everything they can to capitalize off a desperate lakers team trying to make whatever moves necessary to give Lebron one last shot at winning an NBA Championship. That starts with Talen Horton Tucker, as well as the Lakers 2027 and 2029 1st round pick at the absolute bare minimum if the Lakers want Brooklyn to take on Russell Westbrook’s $47 million dollar cap hit this season.
