Finals Overview, Game 1 to Now

Jaden Rivers

Game 1

The first game of the Finals ensued on June 2nd, with the Celtics coming into chase center after surviving a 7 game series Sunday with the Miami Heat. The warriors were well-rested, yet had a 16-point 4th quarter to the Celtics’ 40.

Curry had an honest 34-5-5 night after an 18 pt first quarter whilst outside of Wiggin’s no one had shown up offensively. Wiggin’s 20 pts and Klay Thompson’s 15pts hadn’t kept up with the Celtics onslaught in the 4th. As Draymond said in his post-game conference, we dominated the game for the first 41, 42 minutes. So we’ll be fine.”

 Game 2

This story ensued in game 2, a 107 - 88 at home led by a staunch defense; spearheaded by Draymond Green. With Gary Payton II coming back as well, the Warriors gathered 15 steals against the Celtics. Steph led with 29 points on respectable efficiency and Jordan Poole’s 17 points helped as well.

. But Jaylen Brown’s 1/11 second half had taken a major dimension of the Celtics Offense. Tatum’s 28 was serviceable but without the help of any of the Role players that appeared in Game 1, Game 2 was all she wrote.

Game 3

Back in TD, the Celtics take back home court in a 116-100 win against the warriors. The Celtics core of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart combined for 77 points. But the warriors were out rebounded, turned the ball over more, and fouled more than the Celtics. But a bleak 11 point Fourth Quarter sealed the game soon after Steph’s 15 points in the Third alone.

The Celtics haven’t lost back to back games once in their entire playoff run, its safe to say the Warriors will bounce back at home. It’ll be Paramount that Klay Thompson finds his game again down the stretch to combat the Celtics high output.
