Fastbreak down memory lane 2018-19 Toronto raptors
This week on Throwback Down Memory Lane we talked about the 2018-2019 Toronto Raptors. This Raptors squad had one of the most interesting championship runs we have seen in NBA history. Firing the coach of the year Dwayne Casy, trading away their franchise player DeMar DeRozan for Kawhi Leonard, and the emergence of key role players like Fred Vanfleet, and Pascal Siakam. These are all things that this organization encountered throughout this season. In our discussion one main topic we talked about was Kawhi Leonard’s impact on this team. We also talked about the potential outcomes of this team playing a healthy warrior’s squad in the NBA finals.
Below you can read about my opinions and viewpoints on this Raptors team. If you want to catch the next show live, join us every Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST, streaming exclusively on the Relevnt app.
Looking back at this team one of the boldest decisions they made going into this season was letting go of their previous coach Dwane Casey. This was very shocking considering the year before the raptors finished 1st in the NBA Eastern Conference, and Casey went on to win coach of the year. However I do understand why they decided to make a change, they understood that Casey was a great coach but he failed to prove he could lead this team to the NBA finals. Looking back at the last three years Casey was unable to get his team past the Eastern Conference Finals and more specifically he never got past the Cleveland Cavaliers. While all the blame cant be placed on Casey, moving on from him was a necessary step for this raptors team to go on their first championship run.
