Yesterday, The Philadelphia 76ers did not pay Ben Simmons $8.25M — his second payment of this seasons $33M rookie max contract extension.

This situation most likely is the final straw of the relationship between Ben Simmons and The Sixers organization.

Simmons has a uniquely constructed contract where he would receive advanced payments. Typically players wouldn’t receive payments on their new contracts until mid November.

If the Sixers don’t move Simmons before the start of the season, he will most likely skip out on all of training camp and the preseason costing him millions. It seems that he has made it clear that he will miss out on money until his trade request has been granted.

Thursday earlier this week, Sixers star center Joel Embiid made his remarks on the situation at training camp. Embiid did say they are a better team with Simmons. Others remarks he made showed that he was getting fed up with the situation.

"The situation is disappointing, borderline kind of disrespectful to all the guys that are out here fighting for their lives," Embiid told reporters.

"I feel like our teams have been built, whether it's the shooting need or stretch-5 and all that stuff, I feel like [Simmons] always had it here. And we still have it," Embiid said, before listing all the 3-point shooters on the roster. "... Our teams have always been built around his needs."

The Sixers haven’t made any trade talks with teams public yet, but with this situation moving forward, it will be interesting to see how the organization responds to the media moving forward revolving the Simmons drama.
