When the starters for the 2024 All-Star Game first were announced, the immediate general reaction from the mainstream was one of disappointment and disgust for the selection committee. According to NBA fans across the country, Brunson was snubbed from being a starter.

After claiming the Starry Three-Point Contest Trophy, Damian Lillard showed he deserved that starting spot, cementing his two-day venture in Indianapolis with the 2024 Kobe Bryant All-Star Game MVP Award.

Lillard put on a show in front of the city the Bucks are so used to receiving hostility from. Lillard shot over 50% from the field, making 14 of his 26 shots. A staggering 23 of his shots were from beyond the three-point line (with two coming from near half court), with Lillard making 11 of them. After scoring 39 points and shooting 47.8% from three-point land (according to ESPN), Lillard truly earned his title of 2024 All-Star MVP.

Though the fans in attendance at the game showed their clear pessimism at the announcement of the Game MVP (according to a clip from the NBA of the trophy presentation), Lillard, through his performance, showed that he’s the exact opposite of a washed player.

The only hope for Bucks’ fans is that Lillard can carry his fantastic weekend performance into the rest of the season.
