Can Jimmy Butler be a MVP on the new look Heat
With the first month of the nba season concluded, questions about not only the whole league but the nba’s best offseason moves this last summer. The Heat in particular retained their key pieces as well as bringing in the talents of Kyle Lowry, veteran Raptors guard along with PJ Tucker a recent champion with the Bucks, and Markieff morris. The guys they brought back included, a resident sharpshooter in Duncan Robinson, two-way contracts in Gabe vincent and Max Strus, along with Dwayne Dedmond a late season addition who had sadly been the best player on the court during last year's series with the eventual champion Bucks.
With these moves the question can be posed as to which, what is the ceiling for this Heat team. Now 2 seasons removed from the NBA finals and a disappointing sweep in the semi final rematch with the Bucks , the Heat come to a 7-3 in the 2021-22 season. Quite frankly the team has looked amazing as the team has posted a top 10 offense as well as a top 5 defense as per Teamrankings.com.
Jimmy Butler has quite frankly been the Miami Heat in body and soul, previously leading the team in Pts, Asts, and steals. With Jimmy getting honors of the Player of the month within the east it's not too much of a reach to ask if he is an mvp level caliber player. In a conference with the likes of James Harden, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel embiid; there’s some steep competition and that’s just the East.
After the 76ers win against the surging Bulls the heat sit as the 2nd seed within the East. Jimmy has shown superstar level play in the face of adversity before. He’s currently 11th in scoring and 3rd in PER (player, efficiency rating). As Jimmy is the undoubted leader of this team as well as the face of the franchise, if the Heat keep this up he should at least be in the conversation. He’s been apart of multiple all NBA and all Defense when aligned with Miami, and it leaves viewers to wonder If Jimmy Butler can be the 21-22 MVP on the Miami Heat. Jimmy Butler has shown that he will not be taken lightly. Butler has proven to be an absolute player on both ends of the court.
