Celtics are a perfect 17-0 at TD Garden this season

The Boston Celtics are on the verge of making franchise history as they tie their record for most consecutive home wins to open a season at 17. The last time the Celtics did this was roughly 70 years ago. To put this into perspective, the last time they did this the Celtics had only won one championship and Bill Russell was only in his second season in the league. They now have won 17 championships and Bill Russell’s jersey is retired across the league. The Celtics join only five other teams that have been able to win 17 games at home to start the season in the last 28 years. Not to mention, dating back to last year, they’ve won their last 24 regular season home games.

This Celtics team has something really special cooking with Joe Mazulla and the new starting five. They have the chance to etch their names into the history books as well as the potential to dominate their opponents at home in the postseason. I think it’s safe to say that the TD Garden and the Celtics have some of the best fans in the league that get loud, bring the energy, and push them to get wins. When Al Horford was asked about the winning streak he mentioned, “The Garden’s been great man.. It’s funny because Kristaps [Porzingis] and Oshae [Brissett] or some of these guys, they haven’t played here before in this manner, and they’re always like ‘man, is it always like this?’ They can’t believe it.” The players have great appreciation for the fans and often mention that they are lucky to have the best fans in the league.

Boston has the chance to extend their streak and break the franchise record for consecutive home wins to start a season with 18 when they host the Timberwolves on Jan. 10th. The Timberwolves have already beaten the Celtics this season in overtime and are currently sitting first in the Western Conference. They have no desire to let this Celtics team break that record. The Celtics players have high praise for the energy at the Garden and high hopes for the Timberwolves game on their home floor, with a franchise record on the line.
