Are the Grizzlies real contenders after Getting Knocked Out?

So, The Memphis Grizzlies earlier in the year looked like one of the better teams in the Western Conference and seemed like title contenders. Friday the Grizzlies lost game 6 in the first round to the Los Angeles Lakers in arguably the most embarrassing way in franchise history in the playoffs.

The Grizzlies just announced today that they will not resign Dillion Brooks ‘under Any Circumstances’. After the season is over, Brooks will be a unrestricted free agent and can sign with whoever he wants to in the off-season.

This team is just known for talking like they're the big dogs in town and that they are “about that life”, but can’t get it done when the lights are on them. So much stuff happened to this team this year and could damage the team chemistry.

Ja Morant, who’s one of the more exciting young players in the league was exposed earlier in the season by being on Instagram live showing off his gun in a strip club, which led him to being suspended for eight games and truly damaging the team culture.

The only positive thing you can talk about for the team this year was that Center Jaren Jackson Jr. led the league in blocks again and won Defensive Player of the Year. However, that didn’t help in the playoff were they lost game 6 in the first round by a score of 125-85 losing by 40.

Now that Dillion Brooks is inevitably gone and reports that Jaren Jackson might also leave the team, Memphis could be in trouble. Their best players as of now if Jackson leaves is obviously Ja Morant and Desmond Bane.

Right now the team has a lot of soul searching they need to do and wondering what else they have to do in order to go to the top. Biggest thing for the Grizzlies is that Ja Morant needs to mature during the off-season and bring some more help for him.
