Are the 76ers Still a Threat in the East?

The Philadelphia 76ers just came off of a phenomenal win against the Boston Celtics winning in a nail biter of 106-103. While many assumed that the 76ers would not be as competitive after losing James Harden they have actually played stronger than they have in years past in large parts due to the extraordinary play of Tyrese Maxey. Maxey so far this season has averaged 25.4 points per game (PPG) as well as 5.1 rebounds per game (RPG) and 7.0 assists per game (APG). Maxey is making a case to be named to the All Star team this season due to his play alongside the 76ers impressive start. The 76ers now stand with the best record in the eastern conference sitting at 6-1 with their only loss coming against the Bucks on opening night.

The regular season and the playoffs are obviously very different and Philadelphia has continued to show that they can have a strong regular season and still not show up in the playoffs. With that being said the 76ers have looked great so far this season as Maxey has completely replaced Harden’s production. Now that the Harden drama is over with, Phili can just focus on basketball and it has been working. While the Celtics and Bucks are still the favorites in the east, the 76ers strong start has proven that they are still going to be competitive and are absolutely a threat in the east come playoff time.
