A historic way to bounce back

Tuesday the Brooklyn Nets took on the Charolette Hornet. This was a highly anticipated game between two teams who are currently in a position to face each other in the play-in tournament. Following a historic night from Kyrie Irving, the Nets were able to make a statement not only to the Hornets but also to the rest of the league.

In Kyrie’s Return to Boston, he would receive a “warm welcome” from Boston fans. Kyrie would receive boo’s from fans every time he would touch the ball.

Coming off of a tough loss Sunday against the Celtics the Nets would receive tons of criticism for the basketball world especially Kyrie who was formally a Celtic. Jayson Tatum would control the pace of the game leading the Celtics to victory with 54 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assist. Kevin Durant would lead the Nets with 37 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds. Kyrie would struggle finishing the game with 19 points shooting 44% FG, 33%3FG and Boston fans would make sure to let him know.

Following this loss, the Nets would know that this next game would be a very important game for them to win. Although Kyrie struggled his last game Kyrie would his game completely around and led the Nets to a victory in Historic style.

Kyrie Irving and the Nets would get off to a great start, Kyrie would lead the way with 20 points in the first half as the Nets led by 26 points going into the 3rd.

In the second half the game the momentum would begin to shift into the Hornet’s favor as they would at one point cut the game to 11 points. Kevin Durant would struggle from the field and the Nets would have to rely on Kyrie to stop the bleeding and he did just that. Kyrie’s tremendous first half would carry over to the second where he would score 30 more points. Kyrie would be virtually unguardable for whatever defense the Nets threw his way. It seemed like could not miss. Because he couldn’t.

Kyrie would finish the game in historic fashion with 50 points on 19 shots! Kevin Durant would speak on the work of art Kyrie displayed

Kyrie would break plenty of records with this history night he would become the 3rd player in NBA history to score 50 points in less than 20 FGA. He would become the second guard in NBA history to record multiple 50-point games on 75%, shooting the only other guard to record this feat is the one and only Michael Jordan but that is not it. Kyrie Irving would end the game with a true shooting percentage of 101.3% which would be the highest in a 50-point game in NBA history. As deserved Kyrie will now be listed with some of the greatest NBA players in history and with the Nets facing off against the 76ers this provides a huge confidence boost for the Nets as they prepare for their upcoming game and the rest of the season.
