What Lies Ahead for Red Bull’s Sergio Perez?
Sergio Perez is in the final year of his contract with Red Bull. The Mexican driver, despite having had his best-ever season with the team in 2024, faces uncertainty for the 2025 racing season.
Perez finished second in the 2023 driver championship standings behind Max Verstappen, giving Red Bull their first-ever one-two standing. Despite this result, he seemed to struggle during qualifying sessions, consistently starting in mid-grid positions. Perez has expressed his intention to optimize his performance in the new RB20 which was unveiled on Feb. 15.
The Mexican driver has a variety of options in terms of contracts for the 2025 season, including teams such as Mercedes and Aston Martin. He may also have an opportunity at Audi upon their entrance in F1 in 2026.
Perez’s focus remains with Red Bull, stating, “It’s important for myself to see where we start, how we are doing, how we are developing. I want to see that develop through the season. From my point of view, that’s the main priority this year.”
