The Triple Threader - Nov. 20, 2023
Welcome to the Triple Threader, covering the three stories from the world of professional wrestling.
Set for the Series
Two clashes are set for WWE Survivor Series: Wargames. First, the tandem of Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair and Shotzi take on Damage CTRL, which consists of Bayley, Asuka, Kairi Sane, and WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY. Then, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, and World Heavyweight Champ Seth “Freakin’” Rollins battle Judgment Day, who recently added JD McDonagh to the group last week. Meanwhile, Drew McIntyre has made a deal with Rhea Ripley, and will explain his reasoning tonight on Raw.
Full Gear Fallout
AEW Full Gear was a pay-per-view with intriguing matches and standing-room-only smackers. This past Saturday saw the Icon Sting’s final stop in California as he, Darby Allin, and Adam Copeland emerged victorious against Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne, a violent masterpiece that was Hangman Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland in a Texas Death Match, the stunning announcement that Will Ospreay will be taking his talents to AEW, and MJF defy all the odds to retain his AEW World Title. Two new women’s champions were crowned that night, as “Timeless” Toni Storm became the second woman to win the AEW Women’s World Championship for the third time (the first being the woman she defeated, Hikaru Shida), and Julia Hart become queen of the Superstation, as she turned away Skye Blue and Kris Statlander to win the TBS Title, making her the youngest woman to win the crown.
Rowdy ronda returns
Former UFC and WWE Champion Ronda Rousey has returned to the squared circle, first teaming up with Marina Shafir at Wrestling Revolver, then debuting at the Ring of Honor tapings that took place after AEW Rampage this past Friday. At the media scrum, AEW President & CEO Tony Khan, who is also the owner of ROH, stated at the Full Gear media scrum that Rousey has not been signed, but both of them “had a great conversation.” The debut of the former Bantamweight Champion could air as soon as this Thursday on ROH’s bespoke streaming service, Honor Club.
