flair’s last match opps confirmed

Announced last Monday, July 18, on YouTube, Ric Flair’s Last Match will see him square up in the squared circle for what he calls his final time, teaming with son-in-law Andrade el Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal, with Jeff’s wife Karen at ringside. The event is scheduled for July 31 at Nashville Municipal Auditorium, the day after the city holds WWE’s SummerSlam.

vince mcmahon retires from wwe

This past Friday, July 22, the wrestling world was shaken when McMahon, via Twitter, announced his retirement from WWE. After decades of building and ruling his wrestling empire, the former chairman and CEO ends his tenure amid sexual misconduct allegations that surfaced over the past month. His daughter Stephanie and company president Nick Khan will take over as co-CEOs.

Claudio wins first world title

Ring of Honor’s Death Before Dishonor event opened with an ROH World Championship match. In the match, Claudio Castagnoli would pick up a world title for the first time in his career by defeating Jonathan Gresham. Another set of champions were also crowned as Dalton Castle & The Boys would become Six-Man Tag Team Champions. The show ended with a thrilling ROH World Tag Team Title best-of-three series between champs FTR and The Briscoes, which ultimately saw the former retaining the gold.
