End of the (Dead)line

The final NXT (and WWE overall) premium live event of 2023 saw the next generation shine this past Saturday at Deadline. Two new Iron Survivors emerged as Trick Williams and Blair Davenport picked up wins from their respective men’s and women’s matches, giving them each future NXT & NXT Women’s Title shots. Later on into the show, Dragon Lee defeated “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio to become the new North American Champion, and Ilja Dragunov put away Baron Corbin to retain his NXT crown.

Continental Classic Recap

The AEW Continental Classic takes shape as its final brackets are all but decided. The Gold League has Jon Moxley and Swerve Strickland – who will go one-on-one for the lead this week on Dynamite – tied at 9 points, with Jay White owning 6 points, and Rush* scoring 3 points, leaving Mark Briscoe and Jay Lethal likely unable to win the tournament. In the Blue League, Bryan Danielson, Brody King, and Andrade El Idolo, all have a tally of 6, Claudio Castagnoli and Ring of Honor World & NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston are tied at 3, and Daniel Garcia sits at zero points. The winner will be determined at AEW Worlds End on December 30, where that person will also win the ROH & NJPW Strong titles.

Seven Signs

Former NXT UK standout Trent Seven debuted at Impact Wrestling’s Final Resolution, the company’s last pay-per-view event before they rebrand back to TNA Wrestling in a month. He teamed up with Mike Bailey to take on The Rascalz (the team of Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel) and ultimately put them away. After the match, Impact President Scott D’Amore presented Seven with a contract, to which he would sign, cementing his new home in TNA.
