Sean Strickland Vs Dricus Du Plessis fought for the UFC Middleweight Title
TORONTO, CANADA. Sean Strickland (left photo), lost his middleweight title to Dricus Du Plessis (right photo). These two hard-hitting punchers, fought at 185 pounds for the UFC title in their division. This fight was the main event of the evening and went the full five rounds.
At the start of the bout, Strickland was the favorite to win and Du Plessis was the underdog. The reason for this is because Strickland was coming off an impressive win over the former champion, who was Israel Adesanya at the time.
Although Du Plessis was doubted, he was determined to bring the belt back home to his country, South Africa. South Africa had never seen a UFC champion from their nation before. This all changed when the fight was scored by the three judges at ring side.
Du Plessis beat the American by split decision and went on to become the fourth UFC Middleweight champion in the last year in a half. That is the first time that any weight division has seen so many champions in such a short period.
