Recognizing For Women’s History Month
Since 1987, March has been branded as National Women's History Month, a time to pay tribute to the generations of women who have changed the face of society through courage and activism. Female entrepreneurs, female authors, and women in politics are all a few types of women groups that is celebrated in the month of March. But today, we will celebrate women in sports.
Starting with Sheryl Swoops, the first player to ever get signed by the WNBA. Swoops was also the first African America who got signed by the WNBA. The first women in the WNBA to ever dunk was, Lisa Leslie. Lisa Leslie, who played for the LA Sparks, had scored 49 points in the first quarter with the game against South Torrance High, before she went into the WNBA. At the end of the game Lisa Leslie scored exactly 101 points in one game. Sue Bird, guard for Seattle Storm, is one of the greatest WNBA players. Bird has got drafted in 2002 by Seattle Storm and many may believe that she is the official women who is on the WNBA logo. Lastly, Margo Dydek, polish basketball player. Dydek was/ is the tallest WNBA player of all time. Margo Dydek stands at 7 feet and 2 inches. Know your question may be what is the WNBA doing to celebrate Women’s History Month. The WNBA is celebrating by shouting out many current WNBA players and recognizing the past WNBA players who changed the game.
