NWSL Schedule Released

By Forbes

New York, NY (PSF) - With just over a month before the start of the 2023 season, the NWSL finally released the season’s schedule. Fans and players alike have been incredibly vocal about the delayed announcement. It became a series of memes, spearheaded by OL Reign forward Megan Rapinoe. The most popular of which involved a β€˜missing’ poster on the side of the milk carton. The NWSL took advantage of this when they announced the release of the schedule.

The season will start on March 25th and run through November 11th. Each team will play a total of twenty-two regular season games. The playoffs will hold the same structure as last year, with the top six teams qualifying. There will be three rounds starting with the quarterfinals, then the semifinals, and ending with the championship. The championship will be on November 11th, in a location likely to be named in June. The Challenge Cup will also occur, but it will run concurrently with the regular season. This will be the fourth iteration, but the first time it will not exist as a pre-season tournament. The tournament will run sporadically from April through August. The semi-finals and finals will be on September 6th and 9th, respectfully.

There will be extended breaks from July 10th-20th for the World Cup, and from August 7th-17th. The Challenge Cup will resume on July 21st, but regular season play will not resume until August 18th.
