The Triple Threader - Feb. 19, 2024

Welcome to the Triple Threader, covering the three stories from the world of professional wrestling.

Hollywood is Back

On this past Friday’s SmackDown, The Tribal Chief’s tribe grew as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns officially welcomed his cousin The Rock into the group. The Brahma Bull, now adorning sunglasses and a gold vest – a call back to his late ‘90s Corporation and 2003 Hollywood characters – got a loud reaction from the fans of Salt Lake City, Utah, before verbally dissing them and pledging his allegiance to the Head of the Table. Roman defends his WWE crown against this year’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40. Meanwhile, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins’ challenger for the Show of Shows will be determined at the Elimination Chamber this Saturday.

Calling it a Career

This past December, Sting announced that his last match would be at Revolution this year. Last week, it was made official: The Icon and Darby Allin, who are reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions, will put their belts on the line against the new-attitude Young Bucks in a Tornado Tag Match, where anything goes. Also on the card for that show will be a 3-way AEW World Title match between titleholder Samoa Joe, and challengers Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland, as well as a friends-turned-foes battle as Toni Storm defends her AEW Women’s crown against Deonna Purrazzo.

Just say No (Surrender)

TNA Wrestling’s annual event No Surrender takes place in New Orleans this Friday, the main event being a TNA World Title rematch as former champ Alex Shelley challenges Moose for the gold. Also on the card is Giselle Shaw challenging Jordynne Grace for the Knockouts crown, Mustafa Ali making his TNA debut against Chris Sabin for the X-Division Championship, and ABC (Ace Austin and Chris Bey) vs. the Grizzled Young Vets in the third and final match in the Tag Team Title best-of-3 series.
