How will Sainz Navigate the F1 Driver Market?

Carlos Sainz is rather calm regarding his contract possibilities for the 2025 racing season after Hamilton was announced to take his place.

There are several teams on the grid with open seats and given Sainz’s experience he is highly sought after. Possible options include a seat with Red Bull, Mercedes, or Aston Martin. His decision is highly dependent on his future goals.

Sainz has the opportunity to be first seat in teams such as Alpine or Williams; however, these teams are not likely to be contenders for podiums. Teams which offer cars that are capable of securing wins, like that of Red Bull and Mercedes, already have their number one drivers. This would put Carlos in the same position as he was with Ferrari, having Charles Leclerc as the first seat.

In a recent interview, Carlos stated regarding the matter, “I’m turning 30 this year, which means I’m probably around my peak, so I want to make sure I give myself some time to analyze and hear a bit everyone to see where I can go.” Sainz’s goal remains to be a future F1 champion; however, the Spanish driver wants a contract that offers him “stability and an interesting project.”
