His Name is Sean Strickland

The MMA world stopped for moments on September 9th in Sydney, Australia, for UFC 293 as Sean Strickland defeated Isreal Adeysanyna for the World Middle Weight title. This came as a shock to everyone in the arena, including millions watching from home all over the world. Strickland performed of a lifetime that everyone was surprised by, nobody more surprised than Adesayna, who Strickland dropped in the very first round. From that moment forward, Strickland kept moving forward and pushing the pace. Izzy was then forced to be put on his back foot throughout the fight, where he struggled to land clean, flush combinations.

Strickland used a blocking technique that is well-known in boxing but not MMA. This technique is the "Philly Shell," Most famous for its usage by Floyd Mayweather. With this mechanism fighters can black their body with one hand while blacking their face with the other. Strickland used this technique on someone who should have ripped the shell apart, but Izzy could not handle it. Strickland made Izzy look average, which people have yet to be able to do when it comes to his opponents.

Strickland won round one, three, four, and five. He never sat on the stool nor looked at it. Between rounds, fans would see him talking to himself like the madman he is. As he kept blocking shots through the final round, he knew he had beaten Adesayna. He knew that he was the new Middleweight Champ. And he knew that the UFC would want anyone other than himself as Champion to preserve the brand of the UFC. Strickland and what he says on a microphone is sometimes not a good image because Sean needs a filter on what he says. Sometimes, what he says leads to controversy, and in the UFC's point of view, it is harder to quiet down and seal away an excellent contender rather than trying to shut up a Champion of a weight division. So Sean knew that he would have to rematch Izzy again. Now, we have a new matchup called The UFC vs. Sean Strickland.
