Heroic Takes Number One Spot in New HLTV World Rankings

The HLTV world rankings were released on Monday for the new upcoming fall season of professional Counter-Strike.

Heroic take the number one spot against their rival Vitality after defeating them at the Blast Spring Finals.

While many teams dropped and rose because of their offseason moves and acquisitions the rankings still have many questions to a seasoned viewer of the pro scene.

GamerLegion held their spot at number seven despite losing arguably their best two players with Kamil β€œsiuhy” Szkaradek returning to his former team MOUZ to be their new in-game leader, and Mihal β€œiM” Ivan their best performer at the Blast Paris Major joining Natus Vincere (NAVI).

Another team that stayed put at their spot undeservingly is Cloud9. Cloud9 this past season did not qualify for the major, was eliminated early at IEM Dallas, and lost in embarrassing fashion at the Blast Spring Finals. The loss at the Spring Finals was so bad that many fans were calling for major changes to be made to the roster before the Blast Fall Groups began. The changes suggested did not come about and the team did not budge in their ranking confusing many in the scene.

Vitality finally dropped out of the number one spot after losing the Blast Spring Finals, and after benching one of their best players from the finals Peter β€œdupreeh” Rasmussen.

Notable teams that took a big jump in the rankings are Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Into the Breach, Virtus Pro, Monte, Astralis, and FORZE.

Surprisingly in the rankings, not a single Brazilian team went up with all the notable Brazilian teams going down in the rankings with FURIA and Imperial both dropping four spots.
