G2 Acquire Snax from GamerLegion, Bench HooXi
G2 Esports have fully unveiled their revamped roster for the upcoming season. On Monday, the organization announced its decision on benching their in-game leader (IGL) Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen marking the second benching from their roster with the first being Nemanja “nexa” Isaković earlier in the player break.
This decision to bench the Danish IGL was met with excitement from fans who were disappointed in the team’s performance under Hooxi this past season. The question then became who G2 would select to replace Hooxi with many speculating that Nikola “NiKo” Kovač would step in to take his place due to the team’s performance with him as IGL at IEM Dallas.
G2 replaced nexa with Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa from M80 and would announce today via X that their new IGL would be the Polish veteran Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski which they acquired from GamerLegion.
This pickup is significant as it reunites a former duo of Snax and Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas who played together on Virtus.pro from 2013 to 2018 winning multiple titles and majors along the way. Although their relationship was rumored to be in bad shape towards the end of their tenures at Virtus.pro, but the pair seems to have made up any bad blood from the past and looks to take this G2 roster to new heights.
It will be interesting to see how this new team will function with the new arrivals especially malbsMd playing in roles that clash with already existing members of G2.
The new roster of G2 heading into the upcoming season now looks like this:
