FURIA Impresses, Liquid Disappoints: A Recap of the American RMR
Monterrey, Mexico (PSF) - The American RMR has finished and fully completed the full roster of teams that will be participating in the first Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) major since the game’s release, the PGL Copenhagen 2024 Major. The biggest surprise coming from this RMR is that only one North American team qualified for the major in Complexity with the rest being all South American and more specifically Brazilian teams qualifying from the region.
The five teams that qualified for the major from the American region include the previously mentioned Complexity followed by Imperial, FURIA, Legacy and paiN Gaming. FURIA, Complexity and paiN were all participants in the last major the BLAST Paris 2023 Major with all of them having disappointing showings and hoping to make up for their past mistakes in this upcoming major.
The teams that disappointed the most were Team Liquid, Nouns, M80, and MIBR all teams that were heavily favored to get a spot in the major and all failed to do so with Team Liquid having the most disappointing result of them all. Liquid would struggle against teams like BESTIA and BOSS with it becoming clear that one of their worst maps in CS2 is Inferno where they had most of their underwhelming performances. Liquid would be eliminated from contention by Complexity with a series loss of, 1-2 in a game where the winner would go onto the final. After a strong win on Inferno, Liquid would collapse on Anubis and Overpass losing Anubis 13-5, and Overpass 13-7.
FURIA and Imperial had the best performances with FURIA finally showing the capabilities of the Brazilian roster that they paid so much to make. FURIA was coming off a string of disappointing performances and this performance should be a good mental reset for the team in preparation for the major and they could be a team that could shake up some of the brackets in the Opening Stage.

The PGL Copenhagen 2024 Major will start on March 17 with the Opening Stage.
