UFC 304 Fights Announced

(via BBC)

Every card that UFC has scheduled for England in recent memory has delivered on every conceivable level. With Dana White announcing the main card for UFC 304, it only seem s that they plan on making cards in England as stacked as they can possibly be. Here is a rundown of the fights that were announced.

Leon Edwards vs. Belal Muhammad (Welterweight Title Fight)

This fight has been in the works for quite some time now. Many were wondering if the star power that Muhammad lacks seems to be the catalyst for why this fight was not made in place of Edwards’ previous fight against Colby Covington. Muhammad and Edwards had previously fought in March 2021, where an Edwards eye poke led to a doctor stoppage in the second round. Although Muhammad has made notable improvements since their initial matchup, there is no doubt that Edwards has had the tougher matchups since their last meeting. Fighting Kamaru Usman twice and Colby Covington is enough proof to determine that.

Tom Aspinall vs. Curtis Blaydes (Interim Heavyweight Title Bout)

Saying that Tom Aspinall has to defend his Interim Heavyweight Title before getting his well deserved title shot against Jon Jones is criminal would still be an understatement. The consensus is that Aspinall is the best heavyweight in the world without even achieving the title itself. These two previously fought in July 2022, with Aspinall suffering a knee injury that caused the fight to be a no contest. Since then, Aspinall has continued to run through all of his competition like a freight train. To say that Blaydes will have his hands full in this matchup would be remise of everything that Aspinall brings to the table.

bobby green vs. Paddy Pimblett (lightweight bout)

Many fight fans dislike the fact that Paddy Pimblett is still being hyped as a blue chip prospect despite lacking the skills of a blue chip prospect. There are dozens of other lightweight prospects that deserve to get the level of media attention that Pimblett has been afforded considering the skills they possess. Green, however, seems to have the perfect antidote to Pimblett’s strengths. His crisp boxing on the feet, coupled with his takedown defense will be something that Pimblett has yet to face in the UFC. One thing is for certain: if Green can make this fight take place within his skillset, he will be far more likely to do well against Pimblett.
