Contract Talks: Charles & Carlos
Scuderia Ferrari finished P3 in the constructors standings this season, narrowly missing out on a P2 finish behind Mercedes. The driver pairing of Charles LeClerc and Carlos Sainz has been a great partnership for 2 years running, with the results being a mix of good and bad, it is hard to see who else could do much better in the Ferrari car. Though it was not the season that all Ferrari fans hoped for, the future seems to remain in good hands.
Charles LeClerc is one of the best and most instinctive drivers on the grid, though a series of unfortunate circumstances with crashes and car failures, his season was well under par. But that has not stopped Ferrari from continuing contract negotiations with the Monoguesge driver, with Ferrari ramping up talks for a contract that would tie Charles to Ferrari for the foreseeable future. Charles has been linked to other top teams including the team that edged Ferrari out this past season, Mercedes.
Though Ferrariās other driver, Carlos Sainz, also is in contract negotiations with the Italian outfit. It is reported that Carlos wants a longer deal with Ferrari, but there already have been speculations with him leaving the team when Audi joins the grid in 2026. Carlos had a great season, finishing just 6 points behind Charles in the drivers standings. Carlos also was the only race winner for Ferrari, and only race winner the entire season that was not a RedBull driver.
With what is being said within the contract negotiations sounds promising for both drivers to get a deal done, and for Ferrari to retain one of the more consistent and talented driver lineups in all of F1. Look for the contracts to be signed within the next few weeks.
